Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum. The Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum was built in 1930 and is the oldest in existence today. Located amongst many other world famous museums on the shores of Lake Michigan, the Adler is home to more than 35,000 square feet of exhibits including scale models of the Solar System, antique astronomical instruments and books, two full–size planetarium theaters, and a variety of interactive displays. www.adlerplanetarium.org

Sears Tower. Sears Tower was constructed in 1973 and was the world's tallest building until 2004. Currently the tallest building in the U.S., the Sears Tower is 108 stories and measures 1,450 feet, 7 inches tall. The popular Skydeck observation deck, located on the 103rd floor, is 1,353 feet above ground. Millennium Park. Millennium Park is located in downtown Chicago and is a showcase for postmodern architecture. The park features the city’s famous Cloud Gate, Crown Fountain and the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, as well as an ice–skating rink, the Lurie Garden, and much more. Arlington Park Racetrack. Arlington Park is a horseracing track located in Chicago’s Arlington Heights suburb. Arlington Park opened in 1927 to 20,000 spectators and was the site of the first horse race with a $1 million purse. Arlington was the first track to install a public–address system, electric tote board, photo finish camera, and electric starting gate. Today, this 1–1/8–mile dirt oval track and 1–mile turf oval offers exciting horseracing action to over 50,000 spectators. Lincoln Park and Zoo. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, Lincoln Park is Chicago’s largest public park with 15 baseball areas, 6 basketball courts, 2 softball courts, 35 tennis courts, 163 volleyball courts, field houses, a golf course, and a fitness center. Popular features of the park include the Lincoln Park Conservatory, a nature museum, several harbors with boating facilities, public beaches, landscaped gardens, and a large theater that offers outdoor performances in the summer. Brookfield Zoo. Opened in 1934, the Brookfield Zoo houses over 400 species of animals. The zoo gained international recognition for the creative use of moats and ditches, instead of cages, to separate animals from visitors. Brookfield was the first zoo in America to exhibit giant pandas, and also built the nation's first indoor dolphin exhibit and indoor simulated rainforest. UIC pavilion. This 6,958–seat multi–purpose arena opened in 1982 and is home to the University of Illinois Flames basketball team and the Chicago Sky WNBA team.
